Quick answer
In the Edit tab of Rotation you drag each row into place, with the mouse or the keyboard. Rule warnings appear straight away and do not stop you publishing; only blockers do.
When you generate the rotation, the order is a starting point. In the Edit tab you adjust it: you move exercises, change sessions, add breaks and check the warnings. Changes are saved in the draft, and the clubs do not see them until you publish a version.
Before you start
- Generate the rotation first, in the Generate tab. Edit works on the draft that tab creates. See Generate the competition rotation.
- Until you publish, the header shows Draft · unpublished changes.
- You can drag with the mouse or with the keyboard.
Step by step
1. Read the grid
Each session has its own tab. The grid has one row per exercise or break, with the columns Time and Compete · Mat, and one Warm up · Mat column for each warm-up mat. The warm-up columns show the gymnasts who must be on that mat at that moment.
Each exercise shows its bib, the gymnast or the entry, its club and its apparatus. A provisional bib is marked: when you hover over it, you read “Provisional bib: changes if the running order changes”.
2. Move a row
Drag the row by its handle to the position you want. The times and the warm-up recalculate straight away. When you drop the row, it stays in its new position.
With the keyboard, move to the row, press Space to pick it up, use the arrow keys to move it and press Space to drop it. Press Escape to cancel: the row returns to its position.
To move an exercise to another session, drop it on that session’s tab: it goes to the end. You can also use Move to another session… in the row menu, which works with the keyboard too.
If the position is not valid, you will see “The exercise cannot be moved to that position.”.
3. Check the warnings
The side panel Warnings · n lists the rule warnings. Each warning names the gymnasts, the club or the session involved, and the row concerned is highlighted. Warnings for the same club, gymnast or session are grouped on a single line, with their count and times. At the foot of the panel you see a summary of the rules in force. The most common warnings are:
- Two consecutive exercises from the same club within a block. If a move would fix it, the Interleave button appears.
- A gymnast starting again before the minimum gap.
- A session that ends after its finish time.
- A gymnast with another start during her warm-up.
Rule warnings do not stop you publishing. Only three blockers do: exercises not placed, exercises from withdrawn entries and gymnasts on two mats at the same time.
4. Add a break
Select Add break in the header. In the dialogue, choose the Type: Break or Medal ceremony. Then enter the Name and the Duration in minutes. For a medal ceremony, you also choose the Divisions, which are preselected.
The new break appears at the end of the visible session. Drag it into place. To change it, select the pencil icon on its row. From the row menu you can remove it: confirm Remove this break?.
5. Place the exercises that are missing
If you see N exercises not placed, there are approved entries that are not in the rotation, for example because they were approved after you generated it. Select Place automatically: each exercise goes to the end of its block. Then drag it wherever you want.
6. Remove the withdrawn entries
If you see N exercises from withdrawn entries, those exercises belong to entries that are no longer approved, for example because the club withdrew them. Select Remove to take them out of the rotation.
Until you place the exercises not placed and remove the ones from withdrawn entries, you cannot publish.
7. Check the result
Check the times, the warm-up and the warnings of each session. When the order is ready, select Publish in the header and follow Publish the rotation and notify the clubs.
If something goes wrong
- “The rotation changed while you were editing it. Reload to see the latest version.”: someone else has changed the draft. Reload the page before continuing.
- “One of the items no longer exists. Reload the page.”: the exercise or break has gone. Reload to see the current list.
- “Check the break: its name or duration is not valid.”: complete the name and the duration in minutes.
- “The competition has finished: the rotation can no longer be changed.”: the competition does not allow changes to the rotation.
Next step
- Generate the competition rotation: how the order you are adjusting is created.
- Publish the rotation and notify the clubs: how a version is published and the clubs are notified.
- Assign and check the bibs: how bibs are assigned with the rotation order.
