Mats and warm-up of the competition

Define the competition and warm-up mats of your call for entries, with their name, location and route step, and why you need at least one competition mat.

Quick answer

In the Mats section of Call for entries each mat is for competition or warm-up. To publish you need at least one competition mat, and each warm-up mat needs its own route step.

The mats are the spaces in the venue where gymnasts compete and warm up. This guide explains how to set them up in the call for entries and why publication requires at least one competition mat.

Before you start

  • Have the name of each mat and its place in the venue, for example “Main floor”.
  • If you are going to use warm-up mats, be clear about the order of their route: each one occupies a different step.
  • A new draft already includes a competition mat called “Mat 1”. You can change its name and location.

Step by step

1. Open the Mats section

Go to Call for entries, General tab, and scroll down to the Mats section. From there you add, edit and remove the competition’s mats.

2. Add a mat

Select Add mat. A new row appears with a default name, which you can change.

3. Choose the use

Under Use, choose what the mat is for:

  • Competition: the mat where gymnasts compete.
  • Warm-up: the mat where gymnasts warm up before competing.

4. Enter the name, location and route step

  • Name: must be unique within the competition. You cannot have two mats with the same name.
  • Location: where the mat is within the venue, for example Main floor.
  • Route step: only appears on Warm-up mats. It is required and cannot be repeated between warm-up mats.

When you save your changes you will see the notice “Changes saved”.

5. Remove a mat

Select the remove button on the mat’s row. If you remove the last competition mat, the call for entries shows the pending item “Add at least one competition mat” in Summary again.

Why you need at least one competition mat

The call for entries cannot be published without at least one competition mat. A warm-up mat does not replace it: it is used for warming up, but not for competing. A missing competition mat appears under Pending in Summary, and also blocks publication.

Mats can be changed in any status of the competition, except when it is finished or cancelled.

How the warm-up is set in the rotation

When you generate the rotation, each warm-up mat has its own Time per gymnast on that mat, in the Rules panel of the Generate tab. You can leave it on Automatic, which lasts as long as the gymnast’s own exercise, or set a fixed time from 2 to 10 min. The route is shown as “Mat 3 → Mat 2 → Compete · Mat 1”. See Generate the competition rotation.

If there is only one competition mat and no warm-up mat, no warm-up is scheduled: the Generate tab shows “With a single mat there is no warm-up.”.

If something goes wrong

  • “There is already a mat with that name.”: change the name of one of the two mats.
  • “Set the route step of every warm-up mat.”: a warm-up mat cannot be saved without its route step.
  • “Two warm-up mats have the same step in the route.”: give each warm-up mat a different route step.
  • “Add at least one competition mat”: appears under Pending in Summary. Select Complete on its row to go to the Mats section, add a mat with the use Competition and save. Then return to Summary and check that the pending item no longer appears.
  • “This part of the call can no longer be changed in its current status.”: the competition is finished or cancelled, so the mats can no longer be changed.
